We're currently looking to grow our committed and friendly team working in our Sydney (Waterloo) office by filling the following position:

Financial Administration Assistant (12 month position, part time)

One of our team is heading off on maternity leave for 12 months, and we need someone to help cover part of her role for that time.

What’s involved?

Most of the tasks we need help with are financial administration tasks. You don’t need to be a qualified accountant or bookkeeper—although if you had some experience or training in bookkeeping it could be useful. But we’d show you what to do, and train you in most of the routine tasks. We just need a fast learner who loves the challenge of working in a few different software environments.

To give you an idea of some of the tasks:

  • monthly reconciliations (bank, credit card, payment gateway)
  • monthly preparation and importing of overseas sales data into our system
  • monitoring stock levels and arranging transfers between warehouses
  • entering information about stock transfers and purchases
  • calculation of royalty payments to authors
  • assistance with annual stocktake

You would work closely with our Finance Manager, and help her make sure everything gets done well.

So what sort of person are we looking for?

  • someone who strongly believes in what we do as an organisation
  • reliable and trustworthy
  • strong attention to detail
  • able to follow instructions but willing to ask for help when needed
  • good computer skills (especially Mac), with strong experience with Microsoft Excel (experience with AccountEdge/MYOB a bonus)
  • ideally able to be flexible and work slightly more hours in busy periods
  • able to work roughly two days per week on average
