  1. Equips you to encourage Catholic friends to explore the official teachings the Roman Catholic Chirch Review / Tip by Quentin Wong

In this book, Ray explains some of the main differences between Roman Catholic, and Protestant beliefs. He’s well placed to do this, having grown up in a practising Roman Catholic family. Throughout the book, he’s able to relate official Roman Catholic teaching to his own experiences from when he was growing up.

Each chapter explores a different aspect of Roman Catholic teaching, such the Catholic Mass, the authority of the Bible and the authority of the Vatican, and the place of Mary, the mother of Jesus. In particular, Ray draws our attention to the underlying theme of the “re-insertion” of humans into God’s work of salvation. Instead of “Christ alone as found in the Bible alone, and received by faith alone, through grace alone..the human must always be re-inserted” (p. 95).

This book effectively explains some of the main differences between Roman Catholic and Protestant beliefs. It’s a book which I would recommend to you, not so that you can go to your Catholic friends and point out all the ways in which they’re wrong. Rather, it should equip you to better engage with Catholics, and encourage them to explore the official teachings of their church, and how they stack up with what the Bible teaches. 2. Capturing, challenging & encouraging book Review / Tip by Lauren

Just finished reading Nothing In My Hand I Bring. It is probably the first time I have really been captured, challenged and encouraged by a book. Ray was to the point and put his arguments across perfectly. Thank you so much. (Posted on 20/08/2012)
